About MBSR Program

Jon Kabat-Zinn Ph.D., author of Full Catastrophe Living, developed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Program in 1979 at UMass Medical Center. Thousands of students have taken this course and learned how to use their innate resources and abilities to effectively respond to stress, chronic pain and chronic conditions, and increase postive change in mental well-being and health.  

Jon Kabat Zinn's pioneering work on Mindfulness Based Reduction Course was featured in Bill Moyers' PBS special, Healing and the Mind and has enjoyed worldwide success. MBSR is taught worldwide in a variety of settings including: universities, medical centers, schools, employee wellness programs, along with specialty programs for veterans, corrections and sports teams. This program is considered one of the most reliable ways to learn how to use mindfulness to form new skills for living well and enjoying life.

In this highly participatory and practical course, participants can expect:

  • Talks and discussions for enhanced understanding and application of mindfulness in daily life
