For thirty-six years Marnie has pursued a path in Yoga, Mindfulness and Somatics as essential tools for health, healing and growth. She is passionate about helping others learn how to release chronic stress, muscle tension and move freely without pain. She offers the wisdom and practices of Somatic Experiencing that can restore and resource the nervous system for greater resiliency. She is a life-long learner with a focus on mindfulness practices that support positive shifts toward health and well-being.
She was amazed to discover Essential Somatics. It seemed like magic! Instead, grounded in science, ES simply involves movement education that creates change at the level of the nervous system. She was surprised to learn how simple, gentle movements give such rapid results toward regaining freedom of movement and pain relief while calming and restoring the nervous system. Somatics made so much sense! Marnie encourages her students to bring a kind, light-hearted approach to their practice, because being kind to yourself creates real change in your life.
Marnie is a certified Essential Somatic Movement Teacher (ESMT). She is currently in training to be a Clinical Somatic Educator with Martha Peterson, author of Move Without Pain. ESCT is based on the work of somatic pioneer Thomas Hanna. She is also certified to teach Yoga, and the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn PhD, author of Full Catastrophe. Her training also includes Integrative Positional Therapy developed by Lee Albert, author of Live Pain Free without Drugs or Surgery, Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness developed by David Treleavan, Mindful Self-Compassion by Kristen Neff and Christopher Gerber, and Somatic Experiencing developed by Peter Levine, PhD and author of Healing Trauma - Restoring the Wisdom of Your Body and Freedom from Pain.
